math

estimate engine speed at 2000rpm

2000rpm = 2000 rotations/minute =
2000rpm * (1/60)minutes/second = 33-1/3 rotations/second

1/(33-1/3) = .03 seconds/rotation = 30 milliseconds = 15 milliseconds/half-rotation

i was about 15 milliseconds from dying today (or being maimed) when something in my bellhousing (houses the clutch assembly) came lose and got SPAT OUT my bellhousing. THROUGH the bellhousing. straight down into the ground (and not into my foot, naughty bits, arms, or noggin), luckily (hence the 15 milliseconds). Had the assembly made one more half-revolution, it could've easily come up the floorpan into the passenger cab. oh hey, that's where i sit!

of course when it happened it sounded like a bell going *DING!* like i'd won a prize at a carnival. so of course i laughed...but at the time i didn't know that there was a 1 inch. hole in my bellhousing...a maybe 1/4 inch bellshaped iron housing.

when i found the hole i laughed again.

fuck.

other than the hole...for some reason she drives perfectly fine right now....
